One out of every 50 people qualifies for Mensa!

You could be the one!

Mensa has more than 50,000 members in the United States and more than 100,000 members worldwide. Members of American Mensa range in age from 4 to 100 and come from all segments of society.

Members join for different reasons. Some like the social aspect of the organization, which includes everything from local game nights to the Annual Gathering. Others enjoy intellectual events such as speaker meetings, Colloquiums or CultureQuest®.

Whether in person or online, Mensa offers intellectually gifted people a place to share their ideas. More than 150 Special Interest Groups allow members to pursue their interests - from astronomy to quilting - with other Mensans.

Many members enjoy the opportunity to serve their communities through our service programs. Mensan volunteers also work with the Mensa Education & Research Foundation to award scholarships to more than 150 college students each year.

Members have access to special member benefits that include discounts on travel and financial products and American Mensa's magazine, the Mensa Bulletin.

Each new member of Mensa adds something new and special to the organization. We invite you to pursue membership today.

How can I join?

Tallahassee Area Mensa is not currently offering any in-person testing, but testing is available through a number of testing centers. You also have the option of submitting prior evidence of a passing score on any number of other tests to the National Office. If you are interested in testing, you can contact the National Office and they can refer you to local testing centers in your area.

If you have prior evidence that you qualify for membership, all you need to do is submit your test scores from prior intelligence testing. Many people find this a quick and easy way to qualify for Mensa membership, as they often qualify on tests they have already taken at some point in their lives.

Results from tests given by an institution, agency or clinic must include the full name of the test, the score and the percentile rank. This documentation must be on the letterhead of the institution, agency or clinic; it also must be signed by the psychologist responsible for the testing and must include the psychologist's license/certification number as issued by the state in which the psychologist practices.

Evidence from a school transcript must be a school document with a seal, and an armed forces record must be a notarized copy.

All evidence of prior testing will be appraised individually, and Mensa reserves the right to make the final determination of the acceptability of the test. The nonrefundable, one-time evaluation fee is $40 (U.S.).

Beginning Jan. 1, 2011, American Mensa began releasing raw scores to candidates who test with American Mensa. We will not provide an IQ or further interpretation or evaluation of the raw score. Instead, the "qualify" and "non-qualify" letters will direct our test-takers online, where they can interpret their raw scores to the equivalent IQ ranges. (We will also provide a brochure regarding score self interpretation upon request.)

Current members who tested between April 1, 2001, and Dec. 31, 2010, can request their scores at no charge. Lapsed members and past Offers of Membership will pay a $15 fee for their score report, and Offers of Membership will receive a $15 credit on their first dues payment with encouragement to join.

Test scores must NOT be converted or evaluated by staff members or volunteers, as it could cross over into the area of a psychological evaluation. If you need help interpreting your score, please go to http://www.us.mensa.org/testevaluation. The downloadable brochure is available at http://www.us.mensa.org/materialsrequest.
